Fitness is not about being skinny, having a ripped body or following a diet. There is much, much more to true fitness. Therefore, I place faith 1st!
I believe we are created with a heart, mind, body and soul. Our faith and body are joined together and everything else is subject to these two!
Here are just a few of my guides to faith & fitness:
"Training your body helps you in some ways, but serving God helps you in every way by bringing you blessings in this life and in the future life, too." (1 Timothy 4:8)
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship." (Romans 12:1)
"Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself?" "But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit." (1 Corinthians 6:15a; 17)
"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." (Matthew 26:41)
"Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of you body to him as instruments of righteousness." (Romans 6:13)
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37)
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exits and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)
