Instruction & Fitness

Instruction is an important part of fitness. Why? Well, I look at it like this. Life is a learning process, everything we do we get instruction somewhere, somehow in some way. Sometimes it may be through formal education, other times it may be through observing others or it could be you are self taught by figuring things out.

When it comes to fitness, I have learned in many different ways and come to the conclusion that instruction in this area is very much a benefit to achieve the best results.

I have seen many people who have developed pour form, technique's and habits therefore, they do not receive the best results for their efforts. As a result, many of them quickly become discouraged, give up or lose interest. I know because I once was there!

In my opinion, to achieve the best in fitness you need to find someone who will be accountable to you and you to them. Working out with a partner is much more fun and enjoyable as well as motivating! Find different things you could do to change up a boring routine.

I am a big fan of weight lifting, because it does a lot of good things for the body, if it's done correctly. Although, this is one of the areas, which I recommend instruction. You will need someone to show you some correct forms and techniques. Without it you could easily hurt yourself or get the wrong results.

Researchers believe that weight lifting lessens the risk of osteoporosis in women. It also develops strength, tones the muscles, burns more calories and can increase endurance when it's done in a up beat routine.

Here is an example of our group fitness training:

Cardio, muscle group training, Abs and stretch.
or
Walking the trails at the park.

In one hour we can cover all parts of the body to keep fit. We work out to praise and worship music which feeds the soul as we are training the body. Therefore, we are actually gaining two benefits at one time.

One of my instructions is to remember, unless you are in a competitive sport or purpose of training for competition, group fitness training is really an individual focus. Even in our group fitness workouts, I will always encourage everyone to know their own limits and goals. Not everyone will lift the same weights, but we will shoot for the same repetitions.

Finally, one on one training is designed to be much more intense in order to get faster results. The trainer is there to motivate you as your instructor and push you to your limits. They should take an assessment of your physical condition and any problems you may have then they also need to know your goals. This gives the instructor a basis to guide you in a specific direction.

Faith & Fitness

How does faith relate to fitness?

Fitness is not about being skinny, having a ripped body or following a diet. There is much, much more to true fitness. Therefore, I place faith 1st!

I believe we are created with a heart, mind, body and soul. Our faith and body are joined together and everything else is subject to these two!

Here are just a few of my guides to faith & fitness:

"Training your body helps you in some ways, but serving God helps you in every way by bringing you blessings in this life and in the future life, too." (1 Timothy 4:8)

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship." (Romans 12:1)

"Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself?" "But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit." (1 Corinthians 6:15a; 17)

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." (Matthew 26:41)

"Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of you body to him as instruments of righteousness." (Romans 6:13)

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37)

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exits and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)
